I have a post about the promotion from Citi Credit Protector. They will send out a free digital picture frame for enrolling the program. According to Amazon.com, the price for that digital picture frame is about $60. Today, I received the welcome package from Citi. I use my Citi Dividend Platinum Select MasterCard to enroll in the program. If you are not using the card very much, I think it’s a really nice deal. The cost is $85 cents for every $100 new balance every month.
Right now you can get a Free Digital Picture Frame from Citi Credit Protector. The digidtal picture frame seems to be Coby DP562 5.6 inchDigital Picture Frame with MP3. According to Amazon.com the price is about $60. You can get the gift after 60 days. I think it’s a nice deal if you have a lot of credit cards or you won’t carry a lot of balance on the card you enrolled. The price is $0.85 for each new $100 balace on the card. I can enroll this program with my Citi Dividend Platinum select Card without any problem. However, others indicate that they can’t enroll the Citi Protector with Professional Card. Compared to the DVD player that they previously provided, it’s really a nice deal currently from Citicards.com. To enroll the program, please click here.
Here is a promotion from Citibank. I am not sure this is targeted offer or not. The rule is: 1) register your Citibank Debit MasterCard through this link; 2) make 3 signature-based purchases for $30 more/each during Oct and Nov. So the cashback is about 10% based on making $100 (at least 3*$30) purchase. You must enroll to participate in this promotion.
Do you know a credit card with $500 annual fee? If you don’t know, please read the following introductions.
Citi has finally decided to relaunch its chairman credit card with limited promotions. The credit card is American Express Black Card which has already attracted lots of attenstion from media. As Citi stated, the card is designed to meet the specific needs of a unique group of people, including Smith Barney and Citi Private Bank clients who expect excellent service and benefits. There will be a special trained team to serve the card memebers. So what you can get from this card?
No foreign transaction fees.
Personalconcierge service. Cardholders have the access to high level of concierge representatives for assistance with dinning arrangements, gift service, travel planning and so on. Of course, you can use the service for 24/7. Complimentary airport lounge access.
Rewards program. You can get 3 thankyou points for every dollar spent on purchases made at supermarkets, drug stores, gas stations, commuter transportation and parking merchants (so does every other card). Get 1 Purchase Point for every dollar spent on all other purchases. Get points for shopping with participating retailers (It’s new?).
Anything more? NO! Can you let them make a wake up calls? Can you let them handle your laundry?
Well, I just don’t understand why they put $500 annual fee on this card. You can get most of the benefits from a common card like Citi PremierPass card and CitiPremier Elite Level card. I pormise I won’t apply for this card even though I am a millionaire.
According to the report of CNN.COM, Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS) will launch a new credit card incentive and marketing campaign October 1, 2007 to raise awareness among consumers about the benefits of using the Shell Platinum MasterCard, with the objectives of boosting the number of active cardholders and increasing the loyalty of customers to Shell. Benefits of the promotion can be summerized as follows: (good for customers open an account during Oct. 1-Dec. 31, 2007)
1). 5% rebate on all Shell gasoline purchases;
2). 5% rebate for 60 days on the first $2,000 in purchases everywhere else—up to $100 rebate;
3). 0% APR on balance transfer for 6 months without any transaction fees;
After 60 days, you will get

3). Rebates are credited to your statement automatically against future Shell gasoline purchases with this card;
4). No annual fee for the first year, and annual fee will be waived if you make 9 purchases at Shell gasoline pumps.
There are three easy ways to apply for the Shell Platinum MasterCard anytime during the year: Visit your nearest Shell station to pick up an application, log onto http://www.877MYSHELL.com or call 1-877-My-Shell.
As I said in the previous posts, the credit card market is extremely competitive. If you can take the chance, you can get a credit card which maybe hard for you during normal situations.
I think this is especially useful information for those just bought a new card and want to save money on the pumps.
Please also refer to my post about gas card.
It seems we can’t make free money from balance transfer any longer. Most credit card issuers have terminated their zero fee introductory balance transfer offers with a transaction fee. For example, Citi Platinum Select Card,which used to offer 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for years, all with no fees, added 3% transaction fee with $250 cap! Discover stopped their no fee balance transfer offers on all of their cards, and added $50 or $75 cap on balance transfer. It’s very clear that the sweet age is gone. However, we can still find some cards are still offering o% APR on balance transfers without transaction fees. They all are from Citi. Here I summarized the cards from Citi Cards without transaction fees and I hope you can take the last train. The following cards are offering 0% APR on balance transfer with no fees for 12 months.
Citi Professional Cash Card
Citi Professional Card with ThankYou Network (10,000 thank you point with you first purchase)
Citi professional Card (0% APR on purchase)
Citi Upromise Platinum Select MasterCard
How much can you get from Citi?
I think this is the most important question. SO I spent several hours to figure out a way to make an estimation on how much free money we can get by taking advantage of 0% APR on balance transfer. Here are some basic points I used: APY on saving or CD—5%; Start Balance—$10,000; minimum payment for each month—2% of the balance. Then how much can you get from Citi? My calculation told me that after 12 months, you can get $448.95. Other Citi cards may charge you $75 or more transaction fees. SO basically you can make a judgment on how much you can get from balance transfer. A warning is when you carry a large balance (a dramatic drop of your credit score), other credit card issuers might reduce your credit limit. And don’t forget to pay the bills, otherwise your 0% APR will be terminated by Citi.
Tips on balance transfer
1. Some friends claim that they can transfer balance to their checking accounts online from Citi professional. I don’t know. But I think is highly YMMV; 2. Use debit card to transfer balance. Although it may not succeed, it worths a try; 3. Transfer balance to another credit card and then ask for a refund check; 4. Use the balance transfer check (make sure it’s not a cash advance check) or request a balance transfer check; 5. Do balance transfer through a phone call. (this is useful when you want to pay off all or part of your car loan from your credit card)
