Get $25 When You Spend $100 from Chase Sony Card

September 13th, 2008 David No comments

The Chase Sony Card is running another promotion in September. I received a mail from Sony Card stating that I could get $25 credit if I spend more than $100 during 09/12/2008 and 10/09/2008. This is a good deal since I can get about 25% cash back for the first $100.

My friends who also have this card also received the offer but in email. They have to sign up through the link in the email. Personally, I think the Chase Sony Card is a good credit card to own. Because it always offers some great deals to its cardholders. The most recent one is the “10 Below” from Sony Card. If you sign up a Sony Card according to this post, you can get $150 credit for purhcase of $299 or more.

Following is the content of the mail:

You already know that you Sony Card gives you the financial freedom you need to take care of whatever life brings your way. It’s also the only card that rewards you with the best of Sony, including electronics, CDs, DVDs, movie tickets and live entertainment. And when you use your card right now, you can also receive $25.

It’s easy to receive your statement credit-just use your card. As long as your purchases add up to $100or more from September 12 through October 9, 2008, you will automatically receive your $25 statement credit. And since every purchase counts-from a week’s worth of groceries to a weeklong getaway-chances are you’ll reach $100 in no time!

I don’t know whether this is a targeted offer or not. But you should keep an eye on this offer.

I should also admit that the Sony Card is good to keep but it’s not the card we should use daily. My top choice credit card in my daily life is the Chase Freedom Card which offers 3% cash back (or 3.75%) on everyday purchase. Another credit card from Chase is the BP visa card which is offering 5% cash back on gasoline purchase at BP locations (10% for the first 60 days).

Get $100 Off Amazon Kindle with New Chase Amazon.com Visa Card

August 29th, 2008 David 1 comment

Chase and Amazon.com have worked together to launch the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card. Compared to the old Amazon.com visa card, the new rewards card offers more rewards options, higher cash back rate at the first 90 days of account opening, and better look of card design. For some Amazon Kindle fans, the best news is you can get $100 off Amazon Kindle with a new Chase Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card!

The Amazon Kindle has been out in the market for a while and received great reviews both from consumers and experts. The Amazon Kindle sets out to change the way we read books, newspapers, weblogs, and more and is developed by Amazon itself. With the Amazon Kindle, you can have instant wireless access to 115,000 books sold by Amazon just like an electronic book reader, an audiobook player, and a wireless Web browser. Kindle uses a cellular data network to deliver books, newspapers, magazines and weblogs to you immediately. This network is called “Whistler” and is free for you to use. Amazon provides the data connectivity free of charge as part of Kindle’s purchase. Sweet!

The price of Kindle is $359.00 right now at Amazon.com. The Kindle was very popular: Amazon’s initial manufacturing run sold out in just five hours, and it took Amazon six months to get it back in stock. (Somehow, I think this is kind of a marketing strategy.) But if you read carefully, you can find that:

Get the Amazon Rewards Visa Card and Get $100 Off Kindle

Thanks to Chase, you get $100 off Kindle when you get the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card. Limited time only.

Here’s how this works: 1) Apply online. Get a response in as little as 30 seconds. If you’re approved, we will instantly add the card to your Amazon.com account and you’ll get $30 back on your credit card statement after your purchase. 2) Add a Kindle to your cart. 3) Place your order using the Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card and enter this promo code: VISACARD to get the additional $70 savings at checkout.

The question is whether the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card is better than its previous version?

Following is the details of the cash back rate:

From what I can tell, the new Amazon.com Rewards Card is really an upgraded version of rewards card. The old Amazon card gives 3 points for every dollar spent on Amazon and 1 point for other purchases. The new card add two new reward categories—restaurants and gas stations from which you can get 2 points for everyday $1 spent there. At the same time, the new Amazon credit card comes with an introductory double points offer! You will get 6 points for every dollat spent at Amazon.com within the introductory period. The new card also gives you airline miles, cash, or flight tickets in addition to gift certificates for redemption.

Overall, the new Amazon Visa Rewards Card is a better credit card product and if you are a fan of Amazon Kindle, it’s the right time to grab it!

The Chase Freedom Plus Credit Card

August 27th, 2008 David 1 comment

I have many reviews and tips on the famous Chase Freedom Card which offers $50 sign-up bonus and gives you 3% cash back on certain categories. This credit card is one of my top rated rewards credit cards and it is also the most popular credit card issued by Chase with more than 1.5 million cardholders. If you use the Chase Freedom Card together with the Blue Cash from American Express, you will be surprised to see how much cash back you can earn from them (Of course, this is good for big spenders only.).

However, it seems I neglect the other upgraded Chase Freedom Card issued from Chase—the Chase Freedom Plus Credit Card. This is a new credit card product launched in late 2007 aimed to attract more credit card consumers who want to get more rewards by using a credit card. Some of previous Chase Freedom Card members have converted to the Chase Freedom Plus Card while they can still keep the same account number. So what’s new in the Chase Freedom Plus Credit Card?

As far as I can tell, there are four improvements on the Chase Freedom Plus Card.

  • The number of bonus categories increases from 3 to 6.
  • The rewards cap for bonus categories is lifted. This is a really good move for those big spenders!
  • The sign-up bonus is increased to 10,000 bonus miles which can be redeemed as $100 ($50 for the Chase Freedom Card).
  • More versatile rewards programs. Unlike the Chase Freedom Card which you can only accumulate points or cash, the Chase Freedom Plus Card allows you to choose which kind of rewards you want to accumulate. You can switch between cash back, points and miles.

According to the fine print, this program gives you more freedom to choose which rewards you like:

If you choose to switch how you earn rewards, and you are earning your rewards as rebates, your rebates will be converted to points at a rate of $0.01 to one point, and to miles at a rate of $0.01 to one mile. For example, $5 in rebates will transfer to 500 points or 500 miles. If you are earning your rewards as points, your points will be transferred to the cash back program at a rate of 1 point to $0.01. For example, 500 points will transfer to $5 in rebates. Points will be transferred to the miles program at a rate of 1 point to 1 mile. For example, 500 points will transfer to 500 miles. If you are earning your rewards as miles, your miles will be transferred to the cash back program at a rate of 1 mile to $0.01. For example, 500 miles will transfer to $5 in rebates. Miles will be transferred to the points program at a rate of 1 mile to 1 point. For example, 500 miles will transfer to 500 points.

The 15 categories that are eligible for receiving bonus rewards are:

  • Cable/Satellite TV, internet providers
  • Department stores
  • Utilities
  • Fast food & quick service restaurants
  • Gas & convenience stores
  • Drugstores
  • Pet supply stores/veterinarian
  • Phone/cell phone bills
  • Movie theaters
  • Grocery stores
  • Movie rentals
  • Dry cleaners
  • Local commuting
  • Beauty salons/SPAs
  • Gym memberships

The bad news is this card has a $30 annual fee which can be waived for the first year.

My thoughts: Upgrade to the Chase Freedom Plus Card is not a good move besides to receive the $100 bonus. I would suggest you open a new Chase Checking Account which can give you $125 sign-up bonus (You can easily get a coupon with $125 bonus at the post office.). If you have a Chase checking account, your Chase Freedom Card will automatically be upgraded to get 3% cash back from 5 categories (You can only get 3% cash back from 3 categories if you don’t have a checking account at Chase.).

$150 Bonus from Chase Sony Card

August 23rd, 2008 David No comments

The Chase Sony Card is my eleventh credit card. And I like it very much because you can always get some great promotional offers from the Sony Card. The most popular one this year is “Get 10,000 Sony Rewards Points for Spending $500″ back in this March. The 10,000 sony rewards points can be redeemed for a $100 gift card at www.sonyrewards.com.

There are also two promotions from Sony Card right now: 1. Earn 5X Sony Rewards Points with Your Sony Card from July to September. 2. 10 Below from Chase Sony Card. If you have a Sony card, it’s good to catch the promotions before they expire.

According to my post in this January, Sony Card was offering $100 card credit on purchase of $299 or more. However, right now, the Chase Sony Card is offering $150 card credit after your first qualifying purchase of $299 or more! Plus you can get o% APR on purchase of $299 at SonyStyle.com up to 12 months. Note: Your first single sales receipt purchase made at a SonyStyle store, including SonyStyle.com equal or greater than $299 (”Qualifying Purchase”) will automatically qualify you for a $150 Statement Credit.

Some Sony products that you might be interested in: Sony α (alpha) DSLR-A200 $499 (Your price: $349 after credit); Sony α (alpha) DSLR-A300 $599 (Your price: $449 after credit); 80G Sony PS3 $399 (Your price: $249!); Sony Cyber-shot H10 Digital Camera $299.99 (Your price: $249.99 after credit); or you may consider a Sony Blu-ray disc player.

Other features of this card:

  • 0% APR on purchase up to 12 months (I got 3 months.)
  • Full platinum Visa benefits
  • Earn 5 Sony Reward Points for every $1 you spend–at SonyStyle.com and Sony Style stores
  • Earn 3 Sony Reward Points for every $1 you spend–on any Sony product when purchased from an authorized Sony retailer
  • Earn 1 Sony Reward Point for every $1 you spend–on everyday purchase

According to my experience, you can get about $100 credit (or points) every year from Sony Card. But I should say that my favorite credit card from Chase is the Chase Freedom Card which offers 3% cash back (or 3.75%) on everyday purchase. Another credit card is the BP visa card which is offering 5% cash back on gasoline purchase at BP locations (10% for the first 60 days).

3% Cash Back with Your Chase Visa Check Card

July 26th, 2008 David No comments

Chase just released another promotion on Chase Visa Check Card. My latest Chase check card promotion was posted here from which you can get $25 credit for every $250 charged on Chase Visa Check card with “no PIN” purchases. It seems this is a targeted offer and only those invited can enroll their Chase check cards. If you can’t register your Chase check cards, you can try this offer.

This summer you can get 3% cash back (maximum $200) when you use your Chase Check Card at grocery stores, gas stations and discount stores. Offer starts from now through August 31, 2008.

Here is how it works:

  1. Enroll your Chase Visa Check Card now (through this link)
  2. Use your card at gas stations, grocery stores and discount stores from July 1 – August 31, 2008
  3. Earn 3% cash back (credited to your checking account statement)
The 3% cash back is not so much compared to other credit cards like Chase Freedom Card, Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card, Citi mtvU Card, or Blue Cash from American Express. But 3% cash back is the most you can get from a check card or debit card which typically only offers 1% cash back. This offer is good for those without any credit card as I mentioned above. If your you Chase check card is invited to join the previously mentioned “$25 for every $250″ offer, you can try whether you can stack this offer with that one.  If you can get both promotions work for you, then you can save pretty much money this summer.
However, in order to get the cash back, you have to remember that:
When you pay at a keypad, be sure to press CREDIT instead of DEBIT. Purchases made using your Personal Identification Number (PIN) do not qualify. As Chase clearly indicates in the promotion page, the qualifying purchases include all debit card purchases made without using a PIN. Such “non-PIN” purchases include purchases you sign for, contactless “blink” purchases, Internet purchases, phone or mail-order purchases, small dollar purchases that do not require a signature, and bill payments (where billers process the transaction as a credit card). Cash advances and cash transactions do not qualify. If you are asked “Debit or Credit” at checkout, always select “CREDIT” and sign for the purchase.

Get A $25 Gas Card for Spending $100 on Chase Freedom Card

July 22nd, 2008 David No comments

Today I got a mail offer from Chase for my Chase Freedom Card. This seems to be a targeted offer to select Chase Freedom Card members. I have a post about earning 5X Sony Rewards Points from July to September and this offer seems to be related to the the previously mentioned offer.

Details about the offer:

Your Chase Freedom credit card purchases just got a lot more rewarding. And all you have to do is use your card! Simply spend $100 each month in the travel and entertainment category between July 1, 2008 and September 30, 2008, and we will give you a $25 gas gift card!

Turn your purchases into free gas. Simply call 1-888-828-2104 or log on to www.chaserewards.com/rewards3 by August 31, 2008 to enroll. Then all you have to do is spend $100 each month on eligible airline, hotel, auto rental and fine dining purchases between July 1, 2008 and September 30, 2008.

If you travel a lot, it seems a good offer. Because you can easily spend more than $100 on travel and entertainment category. As I pointed out in my previous post, Chase is offer bonus points for many Chase branded credit cards. As you may find there, the Chase Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card, Chase AARP Visa Card, Chase Disney Rewards Visa Card, Chase Freedom Card are offering bonus points for using the card during July, August and September.

The Chase Freedom Card is a really good credit card for everyday use. You can get 3% cash back from 3 categories. If you have a Chase checking account, you can actually get 3% cash back from 5 categories. If you accumulate $200 cash rewards in your account, you can actually get a $250 cash rewards check!

New Chase Check Card Promotion: Get $25 for Spending $250

July 21st, 2008 David No comments

This April Chase and Visa network launched a check card promotion which enabled Chase check card members to get $25 for every $250 spent on registered Chase check card. This promotion was ended on June 15, 2008. Chase also run the same check card promotion in the November 2007. Actually, this promotion was operated and sponsored by Visa network.

Yesterday, Chase launched the same promotion again. This is a similar promotion as the previous one.

You can get $25 for every $250 in qualifying purchases (no-PIN purchases) made with your Chase Visa Check Card—up to $75. (United Mileage Check Card, Leisure Rewards Check Card are also qualified for this promotion.)

Here is how it works:

  1. ENROLL your Chase Visa Check Card at www.chasecashyesterday.com
  2. USE IT from the date you enrolled your card through August 31, 2008
  3. GET $25 deposited to your checking account every time you make $250 in non-PIN purchases – up to $75
Not like previous promotion, Chase clearly indicates that this promotion is a special invitation for select Chase check cardholders only. You can enter your email address and Chase will send you an email when you have $25 qualified to deposit to your account. This is a really hot deal. You can get 10% savings on essentially everything by using Chase check card if you are invited to take this promotion.

You have to make sure that only qualified purchases can be counted to $250. The qualifying purchases include all debit card purchases made without using a PIN.

As always, if you can’t spend $750 before August 31, you can purchase some gift cards for future use. This is equal to 10% off for everything in your future purchases.

Possible $5 Statement Credit Each Day Chase Card is Used in July

June 28th, 2008 David No comments

I actually don’t know this offer until one of my colleagues sent me an email about the topic that’s being discussed at slickdeals.net. This “$5 statement credit each day Chase card is used in July” is really tempting. If you use your Chase credit card every day in July, you can get up to $155 statement credit after 6 ~8 weeks. This means you can get a free Starbucks coffee each day in July. Of course, the prerequisite is you have to receive the offer from Chase.

What do you have to do to get $5 statement credit each day in July?

If you make a single purchase with your Chase credit card, no matter how much you charge on this card,a $5 statement credit will be credited to you account. This offer applies to your purchase transactions only and the maximum amount you can get is $155—$5 each day.

Who will qualify for this offer?

You will qualify for this offer as long as your Chase credit card is in good standing, open and not in default when your statement credit is posted. This offer is not transferable and only targeted to certain Chase credit card members.

When will you receive the statement credit?

If you are qualified for this offer, the statement credit will be credited to your monthly statement after 6~8 weeks following the last calendar day of the month in which it was earned. So it takes about 6~8 weeks to receive your bonus.

The original poster got this offer for his Chase Platinum Card. I have a Chase Freedom Card, Chase SONY Card and Chase Amazon.com Card and none of them got the similar offer. I believe most of you might be interested in this offer, thus I called Chase customer service at 800-432-3117. The customer representative I talked to knew nothing about this offer. She said she would add a note and send this to the department which is dealing with promotions and targeted offers about my inquiry. I hope some of you can receive this offer.
