Update on 2008 Chase Check Card Promotion

April 21st, 2008 David No comments

I have a post about the latest Chase Check Card Promotion. I believe some of you have already received an email from Chase if you have spent more than $250 on your chase check card. Because Chase is “famous” for missing promotion bonus, some of you may still hesitate whether or not to take this chance to earn extra $10 off with all your purchases (total $750). This post is an update on previous one with my own experience with this promotion.

Last Friday I received a notification from Chase stating that I have reached $250 in qualifying debit card purchases and a cash bonus will be deposited into my checking account within 14 days.

Recently, you enrolled in the Chase Cash Back debit card promotion, where you earn $25 for every $250 spent in qualifying purchases. You have successfully reached $250 in qualifying debit card purchases, with your Chase debit card ending in: 2527. A cash back reward will be deposited into the primary checking account associated with your debit card within 14 days, as long as your account is open and in good standing at time of fulfillment.

Remember, your Chase Visa Check Card is a better way to pay for everything! Continue to earn another $25 cash back for each additional $250 you spend in qualifying purchases* through June 15, 2008- up to a $75 total.

Plus, you can earn free rewards with Chase Visa Extras(R)!

I made two purchases on April 13 and 15 respectively. The first transaction appeared in my www.ChaseGetCash.Com account on April 17 and the second transaction showed up on April 15. It’s so quick this time! It’s really a surprise to me. Following are two sreenshots from my account at chasegetcash.com.

chase-get-cash-1.jpg chase-get-cash-2.jpgThe most important part in this promotion is how to define the qualifying purchases. You should always remember that:

Qualifying purchases include all debit card purchases made without using a PIN. Such non-PIN purchases include purchases you sign for, contactless blink purchases, Internet purchases, phone or mail-order purchases, small dollar purchases that do not require a signature, and bill payments (where billers process the transaction as a credit card). Cash advances and cash transactions do not qualify.

You can also subscribe to receive an notification from Chase once you have spent more than $250 in your account. For those who can’t spend more than $750 before June 15, 2008. You can buy some gift cards and use it later. In this way, you can still get the cash rewards.

Update: I can see the $25 appeared as visa rewards in my account this morning.

April 19th, 2008 David No comments

Actually, I received the email about winning a free trip to 2008 Beijing Olympic Games one month ago. This post is a kind reminder for those who didn’t use their Chase Visa Credit/Debit/ATM Card during last month and this month. There are two sweepstakes going on right now. The first one is Visa “You Could Take Part in it All” Sweepstakes for Chase Bank/Freedom Credit Card, Chase/Small Business Credit Cards, Chase/Debit Cards and for Chase/United Mileage Plus Sweepstakes from 2/1/08 through 4/30/08. And the other one is Visa “You Could Take Part in it All” Sweepstakes for Chase/Credit Cards from 3/1/08 through 4/30/08. The first sweepstakes is targeted offer for certain Chase Credit Cards and Debit Cards (like Chase Freedom Card). The second one is targeted for all Chase Visa Cardholders. There is no distinct difference between them. All you need to do is to make a purchase by using your Chase Visa Card (Credit or Debit). Then you will be automatically enrolled in the Visa “Take Part In It All” sweepstakes

Visa network is a sponsor for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. They want to let all of visa cardholders take a chance to visit Beijing in 2008. Of course, Visa wants you to use their visa card to book hotels and airline tickets. If you win the grand prize, you can get:

Get $75 Bonus for Using Your Chase Sony Card to Pay Bills

April 7th, 2008 David 4 comments

Chase Sony Card is really a hot card right now. This card just finished the promotion which will give 10,000 bonus points to their card members for spending $500 in a month. Today I just received another email from Chase Sony Card about the new promotion.

From April 1 through June 30, 2008, simply use your Sony Card to make at least three payments on any of the following bills:
• Telephone
• Insurance
• Internet Service Provider
• Utilities
• Cable/Satellite TV
• Wireless

So how to get the bonus?

1. Visit www.chasebillmanager.com to locate and contact the companies that bill you

2. Pay your bill with your Chase Sony Card

3. Get $75 when you make at least three qualifying payments from April 1 through June 30, 2008

There are two ways to pay your bills. You can make a single payment by using Chase Sony Card or set up automatic payment in your merchant account. I believe most of us will not use the Chase Sony Card to pay bills all the time. I suggest you guys use the “single payment” method. For example, I’m using Chase Freedom Card which will give me 3% cash back to pay my cable and wireless bills. In order to get the $75 bonus, I will use the “single payment” method to pay my wireless and cable bills for a while and then switch to use my Chase Freedom Card again.

Fine print:

This $75 statement credit will be awarded for 3 bill pay transactions from April 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008 at any of the eligible merchants assigned to one of the following merchant category codes: Telecom (4812, 4814), Pay TV/ISP (4899, 4816), Insurance (5960, 6300), Utilities/Fuel (4900, 5983). Transactions processed by a merchant that does not process transactions under the codes will not qualify for this offer. When you qualify for this statement credit, it will be reflected on your monthly credit card statement 8-10 weeks following the last calendar day of the promotional period. Only one $75 statement credit will be awarded for this offer.

In order to confirm this offer, I called Sony card customer service. I was assured that it’s a valid offer and all you have to do is make 3 eligible payments. When I asked him whether this is only for targeted customers or for everyone, he gave a vague reply. (It’s really bad!) If you haven’t received the promotion offer, please just wait. Based on my experience, I believe this is kind of “for everyone” offer.

Chase Picks Up The Tab

April 5th, 2008 David 2 comments

I think the Chase “Picks Up The Tab” is another promotion that Chase Check Card holders can take advantage of. Chase first launched this promotion in the November and December of 2007. At that time, Chase expected that this promotion will make an estimated 50,000 purchase free for Chase check card customers. What’s “Picks Up The Tab”? Briefly, “Picks Up The Tab” means Chase will pick up the cost for every 500th check card purchase made without using a PIN up to $500. Obviously, our 10 million Chase check card members have to enroll in the program and make purchases without using a PIN.

This time Chase lowered the maximum amount that they will cover from $500 to $200. The odd is still 1 in every 500. The promotion will last from 04/01/08 to 06/30/08. During this time, if you are lucky to be the 500th purchase made using Chase Check Card without putting the PIN, Chase will pay the bill for you! At the same time, if you have already enrolled in the other Chase Check Card Promotion, you can take advantage of the “500th free” promotion. Because in order to get the bonus, you have to use the check card to make qualifying purchases. What’s more, the official rules for both promotion are essentially the same. You can get both promotions working on the same check card!

2008 Chase Check Card Promotion

April 2nd, 2008 David 5 comments

Last October Chase launched the famous “get $50 for spending $500″ promotion. I believe most of us have already received the promotion bonus at the beginning this January.

Today Chase launched a new check card promotion which is similar to last time. Here is the detail:

You can get $25 for every $250 in qualifying purchases made with your Chase Visa Check Card—up to $75. (United Mileage Check Card, Leisure Rewards Check Card are also qualified for this promotion.)

chase-check-card-promotion.jpgAll you have to do is to register your Chase Check Card through this link. Use your Chase Check Card to make qualified purchases between April 1 and June 15. Then you will receive $25 bonus in your checking account for every $250 spent on that card within 14 days.

Attention: Qualifying purchases include all debit card purchases made without using a PIN. Such “non-PIN” purchases include purchases you sign for, contactless “blink” purchases, Internet purchases, phone or mail-order purchases, small dollar purchases that do not require a signature, and bill payments (where billers process the transaction as a credit card). Cash advances and cash transactions do not qualify. If asked “Debit or Credit,” always select “CREDIT” and sign for the purchase. The money for your purchases is always deducted from your checking account when you use your debit card, even if you select “Credit.” When paying bills (e.g., utilities, cable television, telephone) with your debit card, always select “credit card” if prompted or ask the biller to process your debit card as a credit card; do not provide your PIN. The money for your bill payment will still be deducted from your checking account.

As always, if you can’t spend $750 before June 15, you can purchase some gift cards for future use. This is equal to 10% off for everything in your future purchases.

You can get more information about this promotion here.

update: I attach the screen shot after I registered my check card through above link.

This is not new but Chase is still giving away $200 bonus when you open a Chase Business Checking account. The process is very simple. Take the business related documents with you and open a Chase Business Checking account at any Chase branch. The only requirement is that you must deposit a minimum of $500 or more within 30 days of account opening with funds not currently on deposit with Chase (new money).

However, you have to be aware that like other business accounts, all the Chase Business Checking accounts have fees unless you have a high balance. More details on their Business Checking products can be found at Chase.Com.

Not Receive Chase Bonus Yet?—Check This Out

January 28th, 2008 David 1 comment

If you haven’t received the bonus from JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A., you might want to check this out.

From CourtBriefs.com

Class action claims Chase bank failed to provide promised bonus for opening new checking accounts.

Case Number: 2008CH2257 Filed: January 18, 2008

Christopher L. Akinyemi, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated vs. JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A.

Amount: $50,000.00 Type Of Case: Class Action

Plaintiff Atty: Norman Rifkind, Amelia S. Newton, Heidi VonderHeide, Lasky & Rifkind, Ltd., 350 North LaSalle St., Suite 1320, Chicago, Illinois 60610 (312) 634-0057 (312) 634-0059 (fax)

Judge:

Jurisdiction: IL Cook County Circuit Court, Chancery Division

Summary:

The Defendant bank is accused of having failed to provide, within ten days of the opening of certain new checking accounts, a promised $100 bonus for doing so. Plaintiff Christopher L. Akinyemi, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, sues JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A.

The Plaintiff seeks to assert a class action on behalf of all persons or entities who opened a Chase Free Checking account with $100 or more, and where the Defendant allegedly failed to credit an offered bonus to the account.

The Plaintiff is a resident of Laotto, Indiana. The Defendant, according to the Complaint, is a leading global financial services firm with assets of $1.5 trillion, and a leader in investment banking financial services for consumers. It has company headquarters in New York, and its U.S. retail financial services and commercial banking headquarters in Chicago.

In late 2007, the Plaintiff states, he received a coupon to receive $100 deposited directly in his account for opening a Chase Free Checking account with $100 minimum opening balance. The coupon stated that it was valid from September 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008.

The Plaintiff asserts that he opened his Chase Free Checking account during the term of the coupon offer. The coupon promised that the $100 bonus would be automatically deposited into the new account within 10 business days of accounting opening.

The Plaintiff claims that he did not receive his bonus within the 10 business days as promised. He contends that the account he opened was eligible for the bonus, and was not one of the types of accounts excluded from the offer, i.e., “High School Checking, Chase College Checking, Chase Access Checking, New Jersey Consumer Checking and Chase Basic Checking.”

Claims are asserted for breach of contract. Remedies sought include actual and compensatory damages in excess of $50,000, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, and an award of costs and attorneys’ fees.

The original case file can be found here.
