I first reported this promotion 4 days ago (this post). I think most of you have received the email from American Express about the current promotion at Amazon.Com. I have a Blue from American Express Card and Starwood Preferred Guest Card from American Express. Thus I received two emails about getting 1,000 bonus points for spending $50 or more at Amazon.Com before March 31, 2008. It’s a great deal! These days I keep receiving emails from my readers about the promotion they received. Hereby I post some deals below for your reference:
Blue from American Express: 1,000 (someone reported 1,750 bonus points) bonus points for spending $50 or more.
Blue Cash from American Express: $10 statement credit for spending $50 or more.
Starwood Preferred Guest Card from American Express: 1,000 bonus points for spending $50 or more.
Starwood Preferred Guest Business Card from American Express: 1,000 bonus points for spending $50 or more.
American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card: $10 statement credit for spending $50 or more.
Hilton HHonors Platinum Card: 1,000 bonus points for spending $50 or more.
Platinum Business Card from OPEN The Small Business Team: 1,500 bonus points for spending $50 or more.
American Express Preferred Rewards Green Card: $10 statement credit for spending $50 or more.
American Express Plum Card: 1,500 bonus points for spending $50 or more.
There might be more other card members received the same email from American Express.
If you can spend $50 or more before March 31,2008, it’s great to just sit and wait for the bonus points. If you don’t know what to buy and don’t want to miss this deal, what should you do?
Here is what I did today—bought $50 Amazon.Com gift certificate for myself at Amazon.Com! In this way, you can save the money for future use and you won’t miss the bonus points!
Other thoughts: I’m glad that my Starwood Card can receive the promotion email. 1,000 points=1/3 of a category 1 night stay which is equal to $30. Don’t miss this deal!
Today I received an email from American Express titles as “Earn Bonus Points at Amazon.Com”. According to this email, I can get 1,000 bonus points on my Blue from American Express if I use my Blue from American Express to make a purchase of $50 or more at Amazon.Com. This is a really good deal! Some readers told me that they also received the email from American Express for their Blue Cash from American Express Card. However, instead of getting 1,000 bonus points, they will receive $10 for a purchase of $50 or more at Amazon.Com. Following is part of the email:
Just use your Blue from American Express® Card at checkout, and you can earn 1,000 bonus points for a purchase of $50 or more at Amazon.com now through March 31st. That’s in addition to the points you can normally earn for purchases.
You should also notice the fine print: To be eligible purchase must be made at Amazon.com between March 18, 2008 and March 31, 2008. A minimum single transaction of $50 with your Blue from American Express(R) Card is required to earn the 1,000 bonus points. Credit will be awarded to your account 6-8 weeks after promotion ends. Offer valid for a single purchase only. Offer is good for solicited Cardmembers only. Charges for payments made via PayPal and other online payment intermediaries do not qualify. Purchases made at IMDb and ShopBop do not apply. Credits for purchase returns will result in a corresponding reversal of the 1,000 bonus points. POID K569:0001. Bonus ID 0852
I don’t know whether other American Express card holders have received this promotion email or not. The term is very simple. Use your American Express Card at Amazon.Com before March, 31 and make a single transaction of $50 or more. You can’t use PayPal or other kinds of payment methods.
I know many of you don’t have a credit card issued by American Express. I strongly suggest you apply for an American Express Card. Their “consumer priority” service make me use my Starwood Preferred Guest Card from American Express all the time. It’s really easy to dispute an transaction with American Express. After you file the dispute (usually call their customer service), you can see your credit from that transaction in about 3 days. However, for other credit card issuers, it usually takes about 2 weeks or even longer to get money back. Not to mention the excellent extended warranty provided by American Express. Usually, you can double your original warranty provided by the manufacture by using American Express. Of course, you have to make the purchase fully charged by American Express Card.

I have a post on how to manipulate your Amazon.Com “Qiuck Picks” to save 5% or more. (Click here.) However, you have to wait overnight to get the relative products show up in your account and get discount. Today, I’d like to spread out one more method on using “Quick Picks” at Amazon.Com. In this way, you can get discounts instantly.
Step 1. Do not log in your amazon.com account. Just open the website and find out something related or just the specific stuff that you want. Make sure you can find the product you want at Amazon.Com.
Step 2. Register a new account at Amazon.Com with another email address. You can have the same name and shipping address.
Step 3. Tell/Fool Amazon.Com that you own that product.
Step 4. Click “Deals of the Day” and the product should be yours with discount.
Here is what I get:

Note: You can add your address later in this new account. But you have to prepare multiple email addresses in order to play this game.
Use Amaon.Com Plstinum Visa Card to save more!
My friend sent me an email about how to save money at Amazon.Com. I’d like to share this with you. (I don’t who is the first to discover or com up with this genius idea.)
“Quick Picks” are your personal Amazon.Com deal of the day (DoD) that have been catered to your past purchase history. I hope this trick can help you save money when you are shopping at Amazon.Com.
To see your current “Quick Picks”
- Login to your account at http://www.amazon.com
- Click on “Today’s Deals” next to the gold box at the top
- Scroll down to see Your Name’s Quick Picks
Usually the deals are based on your purchase history, but maybe you don’t want to buy similar products any more. Then how can you get deals for something you want? The trick is to fool the system. Usually this will take one day + to work. Let’s say you want a Pentax K10D SLR camera. Following steps will tell you how to fool Amazon.Com and get a deal.
Step 1: What you have to do is to fake Amazon that you have something related to it. (Pentax K10D camera) For example, you have a Pentax camera lens. So search for a Pentax camera lens, and then at the details page do a search for “Rate this item to improve your recommendations” and next to Rate this item click on “I own it”. What this does is link it to your recommendations.
Step 2:
- At the top of Amazon’s page, click on “Recommendations”.
- This will list everything that is recommend broken down by category.
- Remove everything not related to Pentax camera by clicking “Not interested” this may take quite a bit of time if you’ve purchased a few items from Amazon. Another quick way to remove unwanted items is to click on “Fix This” on an item and then click on “Don’t use for recommendations”.
Step 3: Come back the next day and see what Amazon has put in your “Quick Picks”.
This should work for everything. Just do what I told you above and check in the next day. I just played this “game” two days ago. I fooled Amazon that I had a camera lens.

Recently I made a lot of purchases at Amazon.Com. So I got some discoveries to share with my friends. Today I’d like to talk about Amazon Prime service.
Amazon Prime is a premium shipping service which you can get free two-day shipping without minimum purchase requirement. You can also add $3.99 for overnight shipping. The price of this service is $79 per year. You can share the Amazon Prime with up to 4 additional accounts! So it would be $16 each person.
- FREE Two-Day Shipping on over a million in-stock items
- $3.99 Overnight Shipping
- No Minimum Order
- Share Your Benefits
I really like this service. If you want to make large purchases, you’d better go to Amazon.Com and check the price there. I’m shopping at Amazon.Com primarily due to the tax-free feature and the nice customer service. Plus you can get 5% cash back if you use your Citi mtvU Card, or you can use your Amazon.Com card which will give you 3% cash back at Amazon.Com. Right now, if you sign up Amazon Prime, you can get 1-month free trial. You will need to provide your credit card number. But you can cancel it at any time.

When I put a post about getting a free $20 gift card by taking a survey from American Express OPEN B2B Supplier Directory, most of us may doubt whether or not American Express will keep the promise. (No invitation code needed!)
Actually, when we finished the survey, we all got the message that we will receive the gift certificate in 45 days. I believe most of us got the email titled “Here’s your Amazon Gift Code from OPEN” from American Express yesterday. It’s really a big surprise! It’s a pity that they are not offering gift cards any more although the survey is still available.
The American Express OPEN B2B Supplier Directory is a tool for finding suppliers that accept American Express Card. It’s still in beta version right now. Will they offer gift cards to take another survey about the B2B Supplier Directory? I hope so.
American Express sent out an email to me this afternoon. The title is “Tell Us What You Think & Get an $20 Amazon Gift Card”. Contents follows:
Dear David:
As one of our most valued Cardmembers you’ve been invited to try out the Beta version of the OPEN B2B Supplier Directory. Visit the directory, search for wholesale vendors, and take a brief survey about your experience. While supplies last, you’ll receive a $20 Amazon.com Giftcard for your thoughts.
The B2B Directory allows you to find wholesale vendors who accept the American Express Card for your essential business expense……….
The link to the survey is here. Use whatever key words you want to search. And then click “Do A Search, Take A Survey, Receive A Giftcard” logo as showed at the beginning of this post. I know some friends want to take more than one survey. However, don’t expect to take more than one survey on a computer, they will record your IP. At last you will have to fill in your email address. I’m waiting for my $20 free money now. This is a special notice to my friends, please don’t post to other forums. Earn more free money by yourself!!! Because there is a notice “while supplies last”. Hurry up!
“Giftcards for survey completion are no longer available.“ Sorry, this deal has been expired. “Please allow 45 days to receive your giftcard.” hurry!
