Free Upgrade Your Amazon.com Visa Card

Tags: , ,

If you shop a lot at Amazon.com, the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card is a good choice for you. I have a brief introduction of this credit card back in this July. (Maybe this is the first report of the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card.) I also pointed out that you can get $100 off your Amazon Kindle with a new Amazon.com Visa Card. The new Amazon.com visa card will give you 6 points for every dollar spent at Amazon.com for the first 90 days. This is a great feature which will save you a lot for the first 90 days.

Today I receive an email from Chase Amazon.com Visa Card indicating that I can upgrade my Amazon.com Visa card for free! This upgrade offer is targeted to current Amazon.com Visa Card holders.

After upgrading your Amazon.com Visa Card:

For first 90 days, you can get 6 points for every Amazon purchase, 4 points for gas/drug store/dining purchases and 2 points for everything else. After 90 days, you can continue to get 3 points at Amazon.com, 2 points for gas/drug/dining and 1 point for everything else.

There will be no new card issued to replace your current Amazon.com Visa Card. There is no hard pull during upgrade process. All you have to do is call customer service at 888-247-4080 and simply tell them you want to upgrade your Amazon.com Visa Card. After you get approved, it will need 3 days to take effect.

I would say this is a good promotion since the Thanks Giving and Christmas are coming in 3 months. If you shop regularly at Amazon.com, you can save a lot during the 90 days promotion period.

I always use this Amazon.com Visa Card as my primary payment method. The other Chase credit card that I use frequently is the Chase Freedom Card. With a Chase checking account, you can get 3% cash back from 5 pre-set categories. It’s pretty easy to accumulate $50 and redeem it. A lot of MyCardBlog.com readers have this credit card. I you still don’t have one, you’d better get one. You will be surprised how fast you can accumulate your cash rewards.

Get $100 Off Amazon Kindle with New Chase Amazon.com Visa Card

Chase and Amazon.com have worked together to launch the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card. Compared to the old Amazon.com visa card, the new rewards card offers more rewards options, higher cash back rate at the first 90 days of account opening, and better look of card design. For some Amazon Kindle fans, the best news is you can get $100 off Amazon Kindle with a new Chase Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card!

The Amazon Kindle has been out in the market for a while and received great reviews both from consumers and experts. The Amazon Kindle sets out to change the way we read books, newspapers, weblogs, and more and is developed by Amazon itself. With the Amazon Kindle, you can have instant wireless access to 115,000 books sold by Amazon just like an electronic book reader, an audiobook player, and a wireless Web browser. Kindle uses a cellular data network to deliver books, newspapers, magazines and weblogs to you immediately. This network is called “Whistler” and is free for you to use. Amazon provides the data connectivity free of charge as part of Kindle’s purchase. Sweet!

The price of Kindle is $359.00 right now at Amazon.com. The Kindle was very popular: Amazon’s initial manufacturing run sold out in just five hours, and it took Amazon six months to get it back in stock. (Somehow, I think this is kind of a marketing strategy.) But if you read carefully, you can find that:

Get the Amazon Rewards Visa Card and Get $100 Off Kindle

Thanks to Chase, you get $100 off Kindle when you get the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card. Limited time only.

Here’s how this works: 1) Apply online. Get a response in as little as 30 seconds. If you’re approved, we will instantly add the card to your Amazon.com account and you’ll get $30 back on your credit card statement after your purchase. 2) Add a Kindle to your cart. 3) Place your order using the Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card and enter this promo code: VISACARD to get the additional $70 savings at checkout.

The question is whether the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card is better than its previous version?

Following is the details of the cash back rate:

From what I can tell, the new Amazon.com Rewards Card is really an upgraded version of rewards card. The old Amazon card gives 3 points for every dollar spent on Amazon and 1 point for other purchases. The new card add two new reward categories—restaurants and gas stations from which you can get 2 points for everyday $1 spent there. At the same time, the new Amazon credit card comes with an introductory double points offer! You will get 6 points for every dollat spent at Amazon.com within the introductory period. The new card also gives you airline miles, cash, or flight tickets in addition to gift certificates for redemption.

Overall, the new Amazon Visa Rewards Card is a better credit card product and if you are a fan of Amazon Kindle, it’s the right time to grab it!

Earn 5X Sony Rewards Points with Your Sony Card

Tags: , ,

Sony 5x bonus pointsChase Sony card offered 10,000 bonus Sony rewards points if you spent more than $500 on this card during this March. My post indicated that the 10,000 bonus points have been posted in our account. This 10,000 points can be used to redeem for $100 gift card. This is the best promotion we have seen so far this year. However, Chase Sony Card launched a new promotion for their card members from July 1 to September 30, 2008.

When you use your Sony Card this July, August and September, you can earn 5x points for purchase you make everyday! However, there is a requirement: you must have to spend $250 each month to receive the bonus points and only the amount higher than $250 is eligible to receive the 5x bonus points. If you charge $200 on this card every month, you can only get 250 Sony rewards points. If you charge $300 on Sony card every month, you can get 250+5*50=500 Sony rewards points. Sony card also requires that only the money spent at dining, grocery stores, gas stations and department stores are eligible to get 5x points.

To get the bonus points, you have to enroll your Sony card here.

You have to enter your name, first 6 digits of your Sony card number, email address and the enrollment code. Once you have successfully enrolled in your Sony card, you can get a “Thank You” page as indicated below.

It seems this promotion is targeted to some of Sony Card members. You have to have the enrollment code to be eligible to get the 5x points during the promotion period. You can also call Chase at 888-807-1302 to enroll your card.

A very interesting find is actually, Chase is offer bonus points for many Chase branded credit cards. For example, the Chase Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card, Chase AARP Visa Card, Chase Disney Rewards Visa Card, Chase Freedom Card are offering bonus points for using the card during July, August and September. You can find all the cards that offer promotion bonus points during July, August and September at here.

Fine print:

In order to be eligible for this bonus points promotion, you must enroll by the last day of the promotion (9/30/08) by either calling the opt-in phone number or logging on to the opt-in website using the account number and/or web enrollment code referenced above. The bonus points offer only applies to eligible purchases made with your credit card for every dollar spent above the specified hurdle each calendar month from July 1 to September 30, 2008, made at retail establishments that classify their merchant locations for Visa as a type of dining establishment, a grocery store, a gas station, or a department store. Purchases not eligible to receive bonus points include, but are not limited to, purchases made at discount stores, specialty stores, superstores and warehouse clubs. We do not determine whether merchants correctly identify and bill transactions as being made at a type of dining establishment, a grocery store, a gas station, or a department store. However, we do reserve the right to determine which purchases qualify for 5x points regardless of how they are identified and billed by the merchant. The maximum reward accumulation on your additional earnings during this promotion is 10,000 bonus points and will not count against any monthly or annual earnings cap.

New Chase Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card

If you shop a lot at Amazon.com, the Chase Amazon.com rewards visa card is a good choice for you. The Chase Amazon.com rewards visa card offers 3% cash back for shopping at Amazon.com and 1% cash back at other places. If you accumulate more than $25 in your account, a $25 Amazon.com gift card will be sent to you automatically. I personally use this card a lot at Amazon.com. Of course, we have the Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa Card for College Students which actually gives you 5 thankyou points for every dollar spent at Amazon.com.

However, if you are a careful shopper at Amazon.com, you will notice that the new Amazon.com rewards visa card is available now. The most obvious change is that the new card is no longer a “black card” but a “blue card“. They also changed the rewards program. At the first 90 days of account opening, you can get 6 points for every dollar spent at Amazon.com. You can get 4 points for every dollar spent at gas stations, drug stores and restaurants. 1 point is equal to $0.01. After the promotion period, you can still get 3 points for every dollar spent at Amazon.com and 2 points for every dollar spent at drugstores, gas stations and restaurants.

The new rewards program also allows you to choose which kind of rewards you’d like to redeem those points for. You can redeem the accumulated points for cash, Amazon.com gift card, gas card or even travel rewards. Plus if you are approved, you can get $30 cash bonus which will be applied on your first purchase at Amazon.com.

Personally, I think the new changes will make the Chase Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card more competitive in the credit card market. One thing remains unknown is whether the previous card members will be also eligible for such excellent rewards program. The Chase Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card has student card version, consumer card version and business card version.

Of course, don’t forget the Chase Freedom Card which is the premium credit card product from Chase.

Chase Amazon.Com Visa Card Offers New Statement Bonus

Tags: , ,

I received an email from Victor about the new promotion from Chase Amazon.Com Visa Card. As I attached in this post, you can get $10 statement credit from Chase if you spend more than $100 from May 23 to June 19, 2008. This seems a new promotion from Chase Amazon Visa Card which has just terminated the previous promotion.

This is a great offer for Amazon.com card members. You can spend $100 not just at Amazon.Com but anywhere. So it’s equal to 10% off everything for $100 charged on this card. The $10 statement credit will be deposited to your account in about 8~10 weeks after the promotion period. Please note that the $100  doesn’t include balance transfers, cash advances, checks used to access to your account, interest and other fees that are not defined as purchases.

I haven’t received the postcard from Chase about this promotion. But, according to Victor who has already got the postcard about this promotion, there should be another version of this promotion—$25 statement credit for $100 charged on Chase Amazon.Com Visa Card. He told me that his roommate got the “$25 offer”.

Please keep an eye out for the postcard from Chase if you have the Chase Amazon.Com Visa Card.  I believe all of the Chase Amazon.Com Card membes will receive the promotion sooner or later.

American Express Card Promotion at Amazon.Com: Get $10 or More for Spending $50

I first reported this promotion 4 days ago (this post). I think most of you have received the email from American Express about the current promotion at Amazon.Com. I have a Blue from American Express Card and Starwood Preferred Guest Card from American Express. Thus I received two emails about getting 1,000 bonus points for spending $50 or more at Amazon.Com before March 31, 2008. It’s a great deal! These days I keep receiving emails from my readers about the promotion they received. Hereby I post some deals below for your reference:

Blue from American Express: 1,000 (someone reported 1,750 bonus points) bonus points for spending $50 or more.

Blue Cash from American Express: $10 statement credit for spending $50 or more.

Starwood Preferred Guest Card from American Express: 1,000 bonus points for spending $50 or more.

Starwood Preferred Guest Business Card from American Express: 1,000 bonus points for spending $50 or more.

American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card: $10 statement credit for spending $50 or more.

Hilton HHonors Platinum Card: 1,000 bonus points for spending $50 or more.

Platinum Business Card from OPEN The Small Business Team: 1,500 bonus points for spending $50 or more.

American Express Preferred Rewards Green Card: $10 statement credit for spending $50 or more.

American Express Plum Card: 1,500 bonus points for spending $50 or more.

There might be more other card members received the same email from American Express.

If you can spend $50 or more before March 31,2008, it’s great to just sit and wait for the bonus points. If you don’t know what to buy and don’t want to miss this deal, what should you do?

Here is what I did today—bought $50 Amazon.Com gift certificate for myself at Amazon.Com! In this way, you can save the money for future use and you won’t miss the bonus points!

Other thoughts: I’m glad that my Starwood Card can receive the promotion email. 1,000 points=1/3 of a category 1 night stay which is equal to $30. Don’t miss this deal!

1000 Bonus Points or $10 Bonus from American Express and Amazon.Com

Today I received an email from American Express titles as “Earn Bonus Points at Amazon.Com”. According to this email, I can get 1,000 bonus points on my Blue from American Express if I use my Blue from American Express to make a purchase of $50 or more at Amazon.Com. This is a really good deal! Some readers told me that they also received the email from American Express for their Blue Cash from American Express Card. However, instead of getting 1,000 bonus points, they will receive $10 for a purchase of $50 or more at Amazon.Com. Following is part of the email:

Just use your Blue from American Express® Card at checkout, and you can earn 1,000 bonus points for a purchase of $50 or more at Amazon.com now through March 31st. That’s in addition to the points you can normally earn for purchases.

You should also notice the fine print: To be eligible purchase must be made at Amazon.com between March 18, 2008 and March 31, 2008. A minimum single transaction of $50 with your Blue from American Express(R) Card is required to earn the 1,000 bonus points. Credit will be awarded to your account 6-8 weeks after promotion ends. Offer valid for a single purchase only. Offer is good for solicited Cardmembers only. Charges for payments made via PayPal and other online payment intermediaries do not qualify. Purchases made at IMDb and ShopBop do not apply. Credits for purchase returns will result in a corresponding reversal of the 1,000 bonus points. POID K569:0001. Bonus ID 0852

I don’t know whether other American Express card holders have received this promotion email or not. The term is very simple. Use your American Express Card at Amazon.Com before March, 31 and make a single transaction of $50 or more. You can’t use PayPal or other kinds of payment methods.

I know many of you don’t have a credit card issued by American Express. I strongly suggest you apply for an American Express Card. Their “consumer priority” service make me use my Starwood Preferred Guest Card from American Express all the time. It’s really easy to dispute an transaction with American Express. After you file the dispute (usually call their customer service), you can see your credit from that transaction in about 3 days. However, for other credit card issuers, it usually takes about 2 weeks or even longer to get money back. Not to mention the excellent extended warranty provided by American Express. Usually, you can double your original warranty provided by the manufacture by using American Express. Of course, you have to make the purchase fully charged by American Express Card.
