$300 Bonus from Dime Savings Bank at New York

October 10th, 2009 David No comments

Dime Savings Bank at New York is offering huge sign up bonus from which you can earn up to $300. This is the best sign up bonus in this year as far as I know. This promotion is even better than the Citizens Bank’s $220 bonus mentioned several days ago. I have never seen a bank like Dime Savings would place their promotion in their website so clearly. The promotion is listed as the start landing page of the homepage of Dime Savings Bank (www.dimewill.com). The promotion is scheduled to end on 11/15/09. There are two different accounts to choose from: (1)  Prime Dime Rewards Checking-$300 bonus; (2) Dime Rewards Checking-$225.

How to get the $300 bonus from the Prime Dime Rewards Checking Account?

  • $100 for opening a new account opening (paid on the spot!)
  • $100 for setting up direct deposit to the new account
  • $100 for completing two online bill payments

The last two awards will be deposited to your account after 6 months.

The $225 bonus for the Dime Rewards Checking Account is similar to above Prime account other than that only $75 is awarded for each banking activity.

The only difference between Prime and non-prime account is the requirement of average daily balance. For the Prime Dime Rewards Checking Account, $15 monthly maintenance fee will be charged if average daily balance is under $5,000. For the Dime Rewards Checking Account, $12 monthly maintenance fee will be charged if average daily balance is under $2,500.

This account can be opened nationwide and a hard inquiry will be performed by the Dime Savings Bank.

New Overdraft Fees Policies at Bank of America and Chase

September 28th, 2009 David No comments

Posts about Overdraft Fees at MyCardBlog.com are very popular. It is really disappointing that you use the services from banks, put your money there and charged for some trial mistakes. Now, some major banks are considering changing overdraft fees policies. Bank of America and Chase are the first banks to revise overdraft fees policies. Let’s see what will be changed?

Bank of America

Bank of America announced changes to be implemented on October 19, 2009 including not charging overdraft fees (1) when a customer’s account is overdrawn by a total amount less than $10 for one day, (2) not charging overdraft fees on more than four items per day.

In June 2010, Bank of America plans additional changes including providing customers a choice to opt in or out of overdraft capability.

Chase

Chase is also planning changes in the first quarter of 2010 including not charging a fee when the overdraft is less than $5 and not sorting items in descending amounts prior to posting (banks maximize their income using this kind of tricks!). Chase also plans to allow its customers to opt out of overdraft protection.

If you are continued to be charged overdraft fees, you can refer to my posts about how to get back overdraft fees back.
