According to the Nilson Report, an industry newsletter, one in three Americans use Visa or MasterCard debit cards last year, up from 17% in 2000. Meanwhile, regarding to credit cards, the numbers have gone down to 73% in 2006 from 82% in 2000. Debit cards are still very popular with those who have not good credit. Capital One is testing a new kind of debit card which is supposed to change how banks and consumers approach debit cards.

I have complained that even at day time I have to talk to Indian Customer Representatives from Citi. I am not saying that the service from Indinan Customer Representatives is very bad. But it’s true that the quality is not so good. How can the biggest bank in US sell the customer service to India? Will this really lower the cost? Compared to Citi, AMEX and Discover are really good. You can always talk to an American representative who will save a lot of time for you. Chase is also improving their customer service all the time.
