I just called Wells Fargo. The banker told me that I can fund the account with a Credit Card. Thank you bitworse.

also counted as purchase for the initial deposit?

I think so. See the response for LaSalle Bank deal:
1).I checked online today. My cash advance limit stays at the maximum. My available balance, however, decreases a lot. I didn’t make any big purchase, so I’m assuming that it was $2000 from Lasalle.
2).It is confirmed as $1000 purchase x 2 accounts (checking & savings) on my Chase credit card.
3).I will confirm the same: 2x $1000 purchase on my BofA card for funding “LASALLE BANKS NEW ACCT.”
Usually, if you use credit card to fund new accout, the initial deposit should be counted as purchase not cash advance. (ALWAYS - DOES NOT DEPEND ON BANK.)

Why in the general checking it says need to pay 5$
monthly fee, while in this offer it says not.

Hi bitworse. I think it may depend on which state you’re in. For example, for Wells Fargo basic Checking: No monthly service fee with no minimum balance required at Illinois.
