Credit Card Success—Choose the Right Card for You

Posted on 25 October 2007

Today I came across an article from USA Today that tells you how to manage the useage of your credit cards. The best suggestion is “Still, choosing the card that best suits your borrowing habits can improve your credit card experience.”

Choosing a credit card that best suits your borrowing habits can help you maximize the rewards you can earn from credit card. At the same time, a good performance from the revolving accounts would help us boost our credit score. The potential benefits of this is we can get low rate car loan and mortgage. Of course, the by product is—App-O-Rama—free tickets, free stuffs and cash.

Choose the right credit cards and maximize your earning/rewards from credit cards. I was surprised to see that my cashback from my Chase Freedom card this month is $4.8. Considering my spending on that card is only $178, I’m prerry happy to have this card for my daily use. I got the HH 2% card this at the end of this June. And I have got $25 from HSBC last month—SO quick. Currently, I’m also use the Starwood Preferred Guest Card from American Express. In sight of the great benefit of free night at SPG program and the versality of transfer starwood points to mileages. I strongly recommend these three cards. Of course, the key point is to match your spending habit with your credit cards on hand. So you might have different ideas on how to use your credit card. Maybe you can tell us what credit cards currently you are using…Thanks.

I got 3 chase cards: Freecash rewards, rewards plus and Freedom. It seems like “Rewards plus” even better than Freedom since it earns 5 points for each dollar on Gas,drugstore.

I also have a Discover cashback bonus card, it sucks. I don’t know how they count the rewards, but i spend more than 5k and only got $15 on record.

I don’t quite like AmericanExpress because some small stores or restaruants refuse to take it. But i’d like to say thanks to AE because i got my first student card from them. I still keep a “clear Card” from AE but haven’t used it for a long time.

BTW, is there any code for HH2% left? Would you send me one if you still have some? I heard about this card a lot. I even tried to apply twice, but the website just showed me a list of some weird cards.

Hi Decrain. Yes. Chase cash rewards card is a good one. I’m sorry to hear that you can only get $15 for spending $5000 by using discover. You should be aware that you can only get 5% for the first $100 every month. After that you can only get 0.25%-0.5%. This sucks.I won’t say discover is a very good rewards card right now except for the open road card. Currently, I don’t have a code. But once I get one, I will give it to you. HH or Orchard 2% card is really great!

I don’t have a credit card so far. I will apply Chase Freedom later.

BTW, what is the HH 2% card?

  4. David says:

Hi Shawn. I would say Chase Freedom is quite easy to get. HH 2% is the credit card issued by Household Bank (a HSBC bank). This card will give you 2% cashback on everything. You can request a check once you have $25 available. There is another similar card named Orchard 2% issued by Orchard Bank (a HSBC bank). Usually they are by invitation only. There is another news—maybe next week or so—I will start a referral program with a professional credit card application website. You can earn bonus for applying for a credit card from them by using my referral code.

  5. Shawn says:

    Sounds great!

    I like bonus… Hoho…

  6. David says:

OK. I will give the information ASAP after our negotiation. I think the time should be in the following two weeks.

  7. liaosea says:

Will it be easy to apply if I use your referral code?

  8. David says:

Hi Liaosea. I don’t think so. Whether you can get the credit card or not will be based on your credit approval. But the advantage is you can earn extra money. Let’s say you can get $50 from Chase Freedom, and then you will receive an extra check giving you money for applying for the credit card.
