Today I read a paper on busineesweek. The article is written by MADLEN READ (Associated Press). Title is “JPMorgan Chase ramps up rewards program”. According to this article, JPMrogan Chase issued more than 1.5 million Freedom Cards since it launched the product last year. Notice that JPMorgan Chase has issued more than 154 million credit cards totally, Freedom card is one of the most important card in chase credit card market. We can see freedom card on the national TV programs, magazines and newspapers. (no wonder why they didn’t let me close my account) So from the data we can smell something from Chase. Chase is trying to spread this card to the market. As the second credit card issuer in US, Chase is trying to attract more card holders. Thus they launch the dynamic rewards program for chase freedom card.

Before the cardholders can get 3 points for very dollar at gas stations, fast service restaurants and grocery stores. Now our card holder can get 3 points from 15 categories wherever they spent most each month. —The truth seems our card holders just sue this card and Chase will figure out how to maximize the rewards for us. Another important information we should note from this report is: in a recent conference call with analysts, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said the company was cutting back on teaser rates and balance transfers and looking instead to profit from greater growth in existing accounts. I really expect that you can get a Freedom card with limited credit history. If you can’t get instant approval, maybe they need get the verification by a credit analyst. I believe you can get the card.

I applied for an American Express card (starwood preferred guest card) on Aug 15, 2007. Then several days later, I received a letter from American Express to verify my Annual Income. I contacted my Human Resources Office immediately who sent out a verification letter for me. Then I called back to American Express today. They told me that they contacted the person who wrote the letter twice to verify my information. (Oh my god!) They couldn’t reach the person! Finally they canceled my application. They need the person call American Express to verify my information! I don’t know what they are doing! We are all very busy. I don’t want to knock Naomi’s door and ask her to help me again. I am so sorry I have to give up a perfect card. An official letter is not enough? As some friends said I should reply with “NO WAY!!!”. I am not applying for my mortgage. it’s just a card….The process is so complicated….. No more American Express card from now on. The only way I can get that card is to convert my blue card to Starwood Preferred guest card. sad………………………….^^^^^

I have a chase freedom card for about 6 months. The initial credit limit is $200. (don’t laugh at me) Then I asked for increasing credit limit twice. Both were got rejected! Emm…I don’t know what happened. Then today I called in to close this account. The credit analyst talked with me for about 30 min. She told me that I could move credit limit with any chase cards. I have chase freedom card, chase amazon.com card and sony card. She said I could move any amount among the 3 cards. Then I moved $1000 from sony card. (I even didn’t activate that card!) The fact is I got 2 hard pulls in my credit report.(sad) I hope I can do it better next time. The credit analyst told me that sometimes the total credit limit I can get is not only base on chase but also consider other credit card issuers. Through the talk I can see the household income is very important. And this is a fact, right? If you have a high household income, you probably will spend more…..then you know what will happen…

update on Sep 20: I forgot to mention that the credit analyst gave me $10 rewards for my lost.

Maybe this is a very old credit card deal, and you guys might all know this deal. But I want to say it again because it’s a nice credit card. Citi professional mastercard with thankyou network is offering 10,000 thankyou points after first purchase. The 10,000 points can be redeem as a $100 gift card good for a lot of retail stores. You can get 3 points for every dollar spent at gas stations, drugstores, restaurants, car rentals and office suppliers. This card also provide 0 APR for balance transfer up to 9 months with $0 fee. It’s really a good card for those in need of money.

I applied for this card and got denied! I called in and talked to a credit analyst who told me that I need at lest one year credit history to get this card. Citi professional card is a hybrid personal/business card. It will show up on your credit report.
